About the Role
Farm Boy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Store Manager to join our team. As a key member of our store operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of our stores.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to all customers, ensuring a positive shopping experience and promoting Farm Boy's vision of the best fresh shopping experience.
- Store Operations: Assist the Store Manager in the accomplishment of day-to-day store operations, including inventory management, ordering, and quality control.
- Team Leadership: Lead and develop a high-performing team, including coaching, training, and motivating employees to achieve their full potential.
- Communication: Foster open and effective communication with all stakeholders, including employees, customers, and suppliers.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Community Involvement: Participate in community events and promote Farm Boy's community presence.
- Financial Management: Assist in managing store finances, including inventory, ordering, and cash handling.
- Health and Safety: Implement and maintain a safe and healthy work environment, including adhering to health and safety protocols and procedures.
- Store Maintenance: Ensure the store is properly maintained, including opening and closing procedures, and responding to emergencies.
Requirements
- Education: Typically requires completion of a post-secondary program with an emphasis in business, plus 5 to 7 years of progressively responsible managerial experience in retail, preferably in the perishable food industry.
- Certifications: Successful completion of a Public Health Food Handler certification, Smart Serve plus Level A First Aid and Basic CPR certification, or the commitment to complete within 6 months.
- Skills: Good knowledge of retail industry, food products, and superior standards of quality; skilled at working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining priorities and a high level of performance; excellent organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Language: Fluency in English and French is considered an asset.
Work Environment
- Providing service to several people or departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines.
- Required to stand and walk for long periods of time during shift.
- Required to lift, carry or handle heavy objects.
