Position Summary

The role of the FSQR Operations Manager is pivotal in overseeing all Food Safety and Quality Assurance initiatives at the facility level. This position acts as the key representative for Quality and Food Safety, ensuring compliance with customer expectations and legal standards while fostering continuous improvement in our operational processes and culture. The individual will be responsible for safeguarding the safety, legality, quality, and authenticity of all products manufactured.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of FSQR Technicians across various shifts, including conducting performance evaluations and supporting career development.
  • Direct all Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory activities related to human food, pharmaceuticals, animal feed, and industrial products as applicable.
  • Serve as the Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) for U.S. or Canadian sites shipping to the U.S., ensuring compliance with FSMA and SFCR requirements.
  • Guarantee adherence to specifications and regulatory standards at the site.
  • Manage the investigation process for consumer and customer complaints, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Oversee the site’s food safety and quality improvement initiatives, including the verification of corrective actions.
  • Lead the site through all quality and food safety audits, ensuring the resolution of any Non-Conformances.
  • Assess and determine the annual FSQR Program and Food Safety training requirements for all personnel.
  • Promote a culture of Quality and Food Safety throughout the organization.
  • Manage the disposition of products placed on hold due to incidents or quality concerns.
  • Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition Manager to attract and retain qualified FSQR staff.
  • Act as the Food Safety Program Team Leader, ensuring the Food Safety Plan is effectively implemented and regularly updated.
  • Lead the Food Safety and Quality function for any relevant product safety and environmental monitoring programs.
  • Maintain and execute the site mock recall program and conduct necessary traceability exercises.
  • Oversee the FS&Q Management System, including the development and implementation of site-specific policies and procedures.
  • Supervise quality laboratory testing and review results for approval.
  • Participate in the Management of Change (MOC) process at the facility.
  • Conduct regular assessments of the facility's Pre-requisite Programs (PRPs), GMP Compliance, and Sanitation/Housekeeping Compliance.
  • Collaborate with top site management to guide and lead the facility effectively.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related scientific discipline is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a food, feed, or USP manufacturing FSQR laboratory setting.
  • Strong understanding of International Safety Protocol (ISP) and Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards, as well as FDA FSMA and HACCP regulations.
  • Knowledge of USP regulations is preferred.
  • PCQI certification in Human and/or Animal Feed is advantageous.
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of managing conflict in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong presentation skills, with the ability to communicate information clearly to various stakeholders.
  • Regularly required to navigate the facility, performing tasks that may involve sitting or standing for extended periods.
  • Work is conducted in a plant environment.
