Objective:

This role plays a vital part in the success of the Post Settlements team in Toronto, Canada, ensuring that specific individual objectives, plans, and initiatives are executed effectively in alignment with the team's business strategies and goals. It is essential that all activities are conducted in accordance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

  1. Promote a customer-centric culture to enhance client relationships and leverage broader banking relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  2. Address daily discrepancies promptly and efficiently.
  3. Identify and implement modifications to operational procedures to boost efficiency and reduce inherent risks to the bank.
  4. Resolve complex issues by identifying root causes and necessary preventive measures.
  5. Examine cross-departmental processes that may have led to exceptions and determine actions required for resolution.
  6. Reconcile and settle monthly borrowing and lending invoices, including fail claims.
  7. Understand the bank's risk appetite and culture in relation to daily activities and decision-making.
  8. Strive for effective and efficient operations within your respective areas while ensuring the adequacy and effectiveness of daily business controls to meet obligations regarding operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk.
  9. Foster a high-performance environment and implement a talent strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates team members by promoting an inclusive workplace; communicate vision, values, and business strategy while managing succession and development planning for the team.

  3. A solid understanding of strategic and tactical business planning and execution challenges.
  4. Adaptability to navigate a rapidly evolving environment concerning policies, procedures, automation, and client needs.
  5. A results-oriented mindset to identify and address issues, concerns, and processes promptly.
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound judgment necessary to critically assess reconciliations, operations, and processes, including comprehensive knowledge of settlement department procedures and inputs from upstream and downstream systems.
  7. A degree in Business or a related field.

Work Environment:


• Operate in a standard office environment; non-standard hours may frequently occur.

• The securities industry is complex and functions within a quasi-structured yet rapidly changing environment with tight deadlines, where errors can lead to significant losses.

• Continuous changes in systems, procedures, regulations, and technology necessitate ongoing reevaluation and prioritization of tasks, requiring the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

• The incumbent must work independently, manage several priorities concurrently, and handle frequent interruptions from staff, management, and clients.
