Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and physically fit Deckhand to join our team at Young Guns Fisheries Limited. As a Deckhand, you will be responsible for assisting in the operation of our fishing gear and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the deck.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation and Maintenance
    • Prepare nets, lines, and other fishing tackle for use
    • Repair and maintain fishing gear and other deck equipment
  • Fishing Operations
    • Operate fishing gear to catch fish and other marine life
    • Clean, sort, and pack fish in ice and stow catch in hold
  • Deck Maintenance
    • Clean deck surfaces and fish hold
Work Environment

As a Deckhand, you will be working outdoors in a fast-paced environment, handling heavy loads and standing for extended periods. You will also be exposed to confined spaces, wet/damp conditions, and odors.

Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • No degree, certificate, or diploma required
    • Will train on the job
  • Physical Capabilities
    • Ability to handle heavy loads up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
    • Physically demanding work environment
