Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal/Distinguished Engineer to join our team at Huawei Technologies Canada Co., Ltd. as a Cloud Data and AI Expert. This is a permanent opening for a seasoned professional who can architect and develop frameworks for next-generation data and AI systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Cloud Data and AI Landscape Expertise: Understand the competitive landscape for data processing and serverless infrastructure in cloud environments.
  2. Framework Development: Architect and develop a framework/engine for the next-generation data and AI system.
  3. User Scenario Analysis: Deeply analyze user scenarios to result in optimized software system solutions.
  4. Technology Adoption: Learn and adopt new technologies, research, survey, and present industry trends to the team.
  5. Innovation and Patent Development: Generate innovative ideas and new patent applications.

Requirements:

  1. Domain Expertise: Deep domain expertise in the implementation of one or more of the following:
  • AI End-to-End Data Processing: Deep understanding of AI end-to-end data processing, scenarios, and system optimizations.
  • Core Database Internals: Core database internals component (example: query optimization, runtime, scheduling, storage engine, transaction processing, etc).
  • Large-Scale Data Processing: Large-scale data processing (example: Flink, Spark, Presto, etc).
  • Big Data Storage Technologies: Big Data storage technologies (HDFS, Columnar Database, etc).
  • Scalable Key-Value Store: Scalable Key-Value store (Rocksdb, LevelDB, Redis, etc).
  • Serverless Platform Infrastructure: Serverless platform infrastructure.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn quickly in a dynamic environment.
  • Education: Bachelors in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Telecommunications.
  • Advanced Education: Masters or PhD in relevant area is an asset.
  • Leadership Experience: Experience leading teams and products to generate business impact and customer success stories is an asset.
  • Mentorship: Able to lead and mentor team on design/technical skills including data structures, multi-threading, concurrency, performance optimizations, etc. is an asset.
