Emil Anderson Equipment is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic Trainee to join its team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic Trainee, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of heavy construction equipment, including loaders, dozers, excavators, and dump trucks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in inspecting mechanical equipment to identify damage, defects, or wear, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Support in performing service repairs and preventative maintenance on heavy construction equipment, adhering to manufacturer guidelines and industry standards.
  • Help in replacing worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts, utilizing technical knowledge and problem-solving skills.
  • Operate transportation equipment to demonstrate function or malfunction, ensuring accurate diagnosis and repair.
  • Assist in completing necessary documentation and maintaining accurate reports, utilizing computer skills and attention to detail.
  • Perform other tasks as required under the supervision of a Journeyman Mechanic, demonstrating adaptability and a willingness to learn.

Required Qualifications:

  • Comfortable working with and around heavy machinery, adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools safely, with a focus on precision and accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with fellow employees and supervisors, ensuring clear understanding and collaboration.
  • Ability to work in a team-focused environment with a positive attitude, contributing to a productive and efficient work atmosphere.
  • Natural problem-solving abilities, with a focus on creative and effective solutions.
  • Must have a valid BC driver's license with air endorsement and a clean abstract, ensuring safe transportation and operation of equipment.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on adaptability and flexibility.
  • Previous experience or training in heavy equipment mechanics is considered an asset, with a focus on continuous learning and skill development.
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills in the trade, with a focus on growth and professional development.
  • Basic computer skills for using equipment tracking systems, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.

Compensation:

The wage range for this position will be discussed during the interview stage, taking into consideration candidate qualifications and experience.
