We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Infrastructure Materials Specialist to join our team at Arup. As a key member of our Specialist Technology, Analysis and Research (STAR) team, you will play a critical role in providing expert advice on infrastructure materials, particularly steel and concrete.
Key Responsibilities- Provide specialist advice on durability design, problem investigation, specification writing and review, materials decarbonization strategies, and more.
- Encourage and support relevant research projects, including partnerships with industry and academia.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop expertise in particular materials, aligning with team interests and expertise.
- Develop technical, project management, asset management, and business development skills.
- Minimum five years of relevant industry experience.
- Master's degree in a relevant subject, such as civil, structural, or materials engineering, preferred but not required.
- Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) qualification preferred but not required.
- Practical knowledge of concrete condition assessment and repair.
- Knowledge of material characterization and testing.
- Knowledge of construction techniques and experience on a construction site.
- Supply chain experience or experience in material R&D.
- Knowledge of 3D concrete printing or other advanced construction methods.
- Knowledge of or interest in other materials and their use in the built environment, such as non-ferrous metals, masonry, glass, stone, or ceramics.
