About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Infrastructure Materials Specialist to join our team at Arup. As a key member of our Specialist Technology, Analysis and Research (STAR) team, you will play a critical role in providing expert advice on infrastructure materials, particularly steel and concrete.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Provide specialist advice on durability design, problem investigation, specification writing and review, materials decarbonization strategies, and other related areas.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in particular materials to suit your interests and complement existing expertise within the team.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and clients to deliver high-quality projects and provide exceptional client service.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments, research, and best practices in materials engineering for infrastructure projects.

**Requirements:**

  • Minimum five years of relevant industry experience.
  • At least a master's degree in a relevant subject, such as civil, structural or materials engineering (preferred but not required).
  • P. Eng. qualification (preferred but not required).
  • Practical knowledge of concrete condition assessment and repair.
  • Knowledge of material characterization and testing.
  • Knowledge of construction techniques and experience on a construction site.
  • Supply chain experience or experience in material R&D.
  • Knowledge in 3D concrete printing or other advanced construction methods.
  • Knowledge of or interest in other materials and their use in the built environment, such as non-ferrous metals, masonry, glass, stone, or ceramics.
