The Assistant General Manager is a key member of the hotel management team, responsible for the day-to-day operations of one hotel and supporting the Cluster General Manager in the overall management of the hotel.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Training: Provide leadership and training to all departments, with a focus on Front Office Operations.
- Guest Service: Act as a guest service representative and night auditor as required, ensuring high standards of quality and guest satisfaction.
- Policies and Procedures: Implement and maintain all company policies and procedures.
- Revenue Management: Ensure revenue management goals are met or exceeded.
- Financial Management: Develop, prepare, execute, and achieve financial goals.
- Staff Management: Hire, train, support, and coach staff to create a productive and efficient team.
- Operations and Sales: Oversee and participate in day-to-day operations and sales activities.
- Representation: Represent the management team to hotel guests, employees, and members of the community.
- Facilities Management: Ensure the proper housekeeping and maintenance of the hotel's physical facilities, resulting in employee and guest safety, orderly operations, good appearance, compliance with brand and legislative standards, and budget control.
- Market Share: Increase market share by knowing the hotel's position to the local competition and ensuring that plans are developed and executed to improve that position by maximizing hotel sales.
- Health and Safety: Reports and follows procedures with regards to any injuries and accidents in the workplace, instructs staff to follow safe working practices, and enforces Health and Safety regulations.
- Reporting and Controls: Ensure that all appropriate systems and controls are in place to produce accurate reports.
- Purchasing and Inventory: Responsible for purchasing, inventory, and other controls.
- Shift Coverage: Fills in for any vacant shifts as needed and assigned by General Manager.
- General Manager Support: Performs functions of the General Manager in their absence.
- Payroll Support: Assists with bi-weekly payroll processing in the absence of the General Manager.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience, preferably within the hospitality industry.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to deal with all levels of management, staff, and owners in a professional manner.
- Staff Supervision: Experience in the supervision of personnel, including recruitment, training, and motivation.
- Business Planning: Background in the development and execution of business, marketing, and sales plans, as well as operating budgets.
- Computer Skills: Proficient or familiar with computerized systems.
- Time Management: Ability to work within deadlines.
- Multi-Tasking: Proven ability to manage multi-tasked assignments.
- Accounting Knowledge: Familiarity with accounting principles.
- Hotel Operations: Familiarity with hotel operations is an asset.
- Availability: Will be required to work a variety of days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
