Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a Feeder Replacement NDE Technician - Lead to enhance our operations.

The primary role of the Inspection Services – Feeder Replacement NDE Technician involves overseeing all non-destructive examination (NDE) activities related to Feeder Replacement, which includes Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiography (RT), and Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT). Key responsibilities encompass project estimation and planning, maintenance of NDE tools, scheduling and training of contract personnel, and leading the NDE team during execution phases, which may require significant travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead project estimation efforts in collaboration with Project Management.
  • Participate in the execution of feeder replacement outages as a UT Specialist.
  • Manage and maintain all NDE tools related to Feeder Replacement, including forecasting equipment needs and inventory management.
  • Coordinate with site management to prioritize work, address restrictions, and ensure deliverables are met.
  • Plan, supervise, and conduct NDE inspections.
  • Verify and document test results for compliance with established standards, noting any significant anomalies.
  • Adhere to quality and safety protocols while maintaining a strong customer satisfaction focus.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee training for all contract personnel.
  • Prepare NDE documentation for execution during outages.
  • Manage staffing and scheduling of contract technicians in collaboration with vendors.
  • Support inspection qualification activities.
  • Provide hands-on assistance for all site pre-deployment tasks.
  • Assist with other inspection tasks when feeder replacement activities are not scheduled.

Qualifications:

  • Technician/Technologist diploma in electrical, mechanical, or NDE disciplines, complemented by a minimum of five years of relevant experience, including supervisory roles.
  • CGSB UT Level 2 Technician certification; RT and PT methods are advantageous.
  • PAUT and TOFD certifications are beneficial.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the scope and limitations of the NDE methods for which qualified.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% for site work.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including task assignment and work review.
  • Experience in managing equipment inventories and performing maintenance on tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to identify and resolve conflicts.
  • Advanced proficiency in conducting tests to ensure quality and detect defects using NDE methods.
  • Experience in problem-solving and root cause analysis.
  • Previous supervisory experience is essential.
