Position Overview: The MRI Imaging Specialist operates MRI technology and associated equipment under the guidance of departmental leadership. This role demands a high level of independent judgment, creativity, and initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conducting MRI scans for medical evaluation, ensuring requisitions are appropriate for the required examinations.
  2. Gathering relevant patient history and screening for MRI safety and potential contrast reactions.
  3. Delivering patient care and monitoring throughout the imaging process.
  4. Selecting appropriate imaging techniques and positioning patients effectively.
  5. Post-processing images to ensure quality and accuracy.
  6. Maintaining a safe MRI environment and providing education on MRI safety protocols.
  7. Implementing sterile techniques as necessary.
  8. Performing administrative tasks related to patient care, including accurate data management and transfer to PACS.

Work Schedule: Daytime and evening shifts, with on-call responsibilities during evenings and weekends.

Qualifications:

  1. Graduation from an accredited Medical Radiation Technology program with CAMRT certification in MRI.
  2. Current or eligible registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
  3. Completion of a Basic Life Support (BLS) program within the last year or a BLS Renewal Challenge Certificate.
  4. Proven ability to make independent technical decisions and collaborate within an interdisciplinary team.
  5. Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  6. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Proficiency in additional languages is considered an asset.
