The Role

The MRI Technologist will operate MRI and associated equipment under the general supervision of the area supervisor and department manager. This role requires minimal supervision, independent judgment, creativity, and initiative. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Conducting MRI procedures for medical diagnostics, which involves assessing requisitions, gathering relevant patient history, and ensuring MRI safety.
  2. Delivering patient care and monitoring, selecting appropriate techniques, and positioning patients effectively.
  3. Post-processing acquired images and maintaining a safe MRI environment.
  4. Providing education on MRI safety and adhering to sterile techniques as necessary.
  5. Performing clerical tasks related to patient care, ensuring accurate data transfer to PACS.
Work Schedule

Daytime and evening shifts (75 hours biweekly), with on-call responsibilities during after-hours and weekends.

Qualifications
  1. Graduation from a recognized Medical Radiation Technology program with CAMRT certification in MRI.
  2. Current or eligible registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
  3. Completion of a Basic Life Support (BLS) Program from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada within the last year or a BLS Renewal Challenge Certificate.
  4. Proven ability to make independent technical decisions and collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
  5. Willingness to pursue continuing education opportunities.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Proficiency in additional languages is considered an asset.
