Position Overview
As a key member of our team, you will take on the critical role of overseeing the design, upkeep, restoration, and construction of essential transportation infrastructures such as bridges and culverts. Your responsibilities will include managing projects directly while collaborating with diverse teams formed to address specific maintenance, rehabilitation, and construction needs.
Team Collaboration
These teams may consist of personnel from various sections, divisions, and departments, along with representatives from territorial and federal regulatory agencies, consulting engineers, fabricators, material suppliers, and construction contractors. You will hold the authority to manage the execution of both Capital and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) projects, with a cumulative value reaching up to $300 million.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Expertise in bridge and culvert inspection, as well as maintenance and rehabilitation methodologies.
- Proficiency in risk management strategies, including the identification and mitigation of project risks.
- Financial acumen for budget management related to capital and O&M projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Adeptness in navigating a cross-cultural environment, effectively engaging with a diverse clientele and team members.
- Analytical, consulting, and problem-solving skills, complemented by creativity and practical judgment.
Qualifications
This role typically requires a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, accompanied by a minimum of four years of relevant experience. However, an equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
Additional Requirements
Eligibility for professional registration with the Northwest Territories and Nunavut Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists (NAPEG) is necessary. A valid Class 5 Driver's License is also required. As this position involves a level of trust, a criminal records check will be conducted.
