As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for assessing clients and their oxygen systems in various settings, providing ongoing respiratory care, and enhancing quality of life.
Key Responsibilities- Assess clients and their oxygen systems in homes, clinics, or community settings
- Provide ongoing respiratory care to clients with various illnesses or diseases
- Enhance quality of life from the client's perspective
- Liaise with internal and external partners regarding care and therapies
- Demonstrate continuous improvement and best practice approach in respiratory practice
- Maintain and advance own clinical competence
- Participate in committees, teams, and research projects as assigned
- Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program
- Successful completion of the Health Professionals Testing Canada (HPTC) Credentialing Exam
- Eligibility for membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists and BC Society of Respiratory Therapists
- Valid driver's license for local area travel
- Broad knowledge of The National Alliance of Respiratory Therapy Regulatory Bodies (NARTRB) National Competency Framework
- Broad knowledge of current respiratory care theory and practices within a client-centered model of care
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Proven ability to work independently and develop/maintain collaborative working relationships
- Proven ability to adapt to the changing health system and understanding of the broad determinants of health
- Demonstrated ability to assess client responses to care and respond appropriately
- Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others
- Skill in the use of respiratory and other equipment and techniques
- General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care
- Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety
- Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care in various settings and with diverse populations
- Computer literacy in the use of common computer applications
- Ability to physically perform the duties of the position
