Job Overview

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Serve as a recognized authority in the field of nuclear human factors engineering, encompassing all aspects of the plant and its component systems. Provide expert consultation to management, design teams, and suppliers.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in human factors engineering.
  • Offer technical leadership during design evaluations, task forces, and industrial committees as required.
  • Deliver expert consultation to designated organizations and other internal and supplier engineering teams.
  • Foster technical excellence within assigned design teams.
  • Identify areas for improvement in discipline knowledge and recommend necessary technical training.
  • Develop a comprehensive quality management strategy to ensure early engagement in manufacturing processes and producibility issues.
  • Lead initiatives to integrate new technologies seamlessly into production processes.
  • Propose areas for technological advancements and suggest relevant programs or approaches to pursue.
  • Guide and support study teams in addressing critical challenges within the organization or specific projects.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Engineer's Office to achieve the technical objectives of the office.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in an engineering role.
  • At least 15 years of experience in human factors within high-risk, safety-focused industries (e.g., energy, aviation, medical, automotive), including a minimum of 5 years in the nuclear sector.

Eligibility Criteria

  • This role necessitates onsite work for 2 days each week.

Preferred Attributes

  • Advanced degrees (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Human Factors, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer registration in the United States or Canada.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to navigate engineering processes effectively in challenging conditions.
  • Proficient in engaging with all organizational levels.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience with Lean methodologies.
  • Background as a reactor operator.
  • Extensive knowledge of international nuclear regulatory standards and their governing bodies.

Candidates must possess legal authorization to work in Canada. Employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
