Role Overview:

As a Second Cook at Nasittuq, you will be integral in delivering nutritious meals to personnel in a cafeteria-style self-service format throughout the year. Your enthusiasm and flexibility will be essential as you help maintain a safe and effective kitchen atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare meals in accordance with established cycle menus, ensuring high-quality and nutritious food for all patrons.
  • Assist with menu development, food procurement, and inventory management.
  • Ensure food services comply with the Food Safety Code of Practice.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in kitchen and food storage areas, ensuring proper operation and upkeep of equipment.
  • Engage in committee meetings as necessary, contributing to quality assurance and health and safety efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as an Apprentice Cook or Graduate Cook.
  • Training in safe food handling practices.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in food preparation services or catering for groups exceeding 50 individuals.

Requirements:

  • Eligibility for RELIABILITY security clearance and successful completion of a pre-employment medical examination.
  • Possession of a valid passport for travel, including overnight stays in designated locations.
  • Strong ability to adapt to diverse cultural environments and work collaboratively.

  • Fly-In Fly-Out schedule with 8x8 rotations (8 weeks on site, 8 weeks off site).
  • Competitive hourly wage: $31.04.
  • Daily Isolation Allowance of $27 for each day worked on site.
