Control Systems Project Coordinator

About the Role:

The Principal Control Systems provides technical expertise in the production, development and management for autonomous fixed plant equipment and underground mining control systems in line with Operational and Technology requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, operate and maintain sensing, measurement and actuation devices that collect the necessary data to enable the successful functioning of automated solutions across BHP.
  • Develop, verify and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to control, monitor and collect data from operational processes.
  • Conduct process modelling, use process control algorithms, test, and maintain process control systems to enhance the security and performance of control systems across BHP.
  • Install, conduct verification/functional testing and regular post-installation calibration of automated equipment to optimise the safety and performance of automated operations across BHP.
  • Develop, commission and maintain high performance supervisory control systems (e.g. SCADA) to control fixed-plant systems, machinery and processes at desired levels of performance.

Work Environment:

This position will be based in Saskatoon with regular visits to the Jansen mine site. The associated work schedule will be 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in electrical engineering/control systems engineering or equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of various other hardware and software technologies such as encoders, 3D Laser Scanning systems, etc.
  • Strong experience with vendor and contract management practices & processes.
