Job Title: Youth Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Youth Worker to join our team at the Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre. As a Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting the well-being and development of Indigenous youth in our community.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support and guidance to Indigenous youth, ages 12-24, in a variety of settings, including our youth drop-in centre, school help service, and community outreach programs. You will work closely with our team to develop and implement programs that promote education, employment, and healthy lifestyles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and group support to Indigenous youth, addressing their unique needs and challenges.
  • Develop and implement programs that promote education, employment, and healthy lifestyles.
  • Work closely with our team to identify and address the needs of Indigenous youth in our community.
  • Collaborate with community partners to provide comprehensive support services to Indigenous youth.
  • Conduct assessments and develop case plans to support the needs of Indigenous youth.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to Indigenous youth in crisis.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., social work, education, youth work).
  • Experience working with Indigenous youth and communities.
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures and histories.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
