Reporting Structure

This role reports directly to the Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities


• Assume technical responsibility for the design and execution of assigned automation projects from initiation to commissioning.

• Lead engineering and design activities to develop comprehensive process and electrical control solutions that fulfill customer specifications. This includes analyzing control lists, customer schematics, P&IDs, electrical one-lines, and other relevant documentation;

• Assist in the preparation of a complete controls package, which encompasses electrical design and operational sequences;

• Program controllers and HMI applications utilizing various ABB and third-party control/PLC systems, employing IEC 61131 programming languages and configuring associated HMI terminals;

• Design field communication systems using a variety of industry-standard bus protocols;

• Utilize knowledge of Ethernet networked devices to design control-related networks, engaging in hands-on work.

• Collaborate effectively within a team or independently, developing functional design specifications, and supporting system testing, installation, startup, and commissioning of integrated systems.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, electrical, or mechanical engineering from an accredited institution, or a combination of education and experience demonstrating relevant accomplishments.
  • 3 to 7 years of recent, hands-on experience in controls and HMI work, configuring control software and hardware, designing control panels, and developing BoMs and submittals.
  • Preferred experience includes: ABB 800xA, AC800M (Control Builder), AC500 (Automation Builder), and/or Allen Bradley SLC/PLC-5 (RSLogix 500), Control/CompactLogix (RSLogix 5000) programming, as well as ABB Process Panel/CP600 and/or PanelView line HMI programming.
  • Experience in system integration, automation, electrical controls design, and engineering, particularly with 460VAC and/or 575VAC VFDs and other drive systems.
  • Familiarity with site startup and troubleshooting, along with electrical design and power distribution experience, is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise, strong organizational and planning skills, along with excellent analytical and communication abilities.
  • Willingness to travel 10% to 15% as required.
