Our Mission: As the leading voice for sport in the Yukon, Sport Yukon champions inclusion, access, and diversity in the development of sport and recreation across the Territory. We are the central hub for a dynamic and engaged community of sport organizations that continuously strive for growth and improvement. Our core mission revolves around the effective communication and promotion of sport and recreation throughout Yukon.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance awareness and participation in sports through our comprehensive website, social media initiatives, and collaborative events with Yukon sport organizations and clubs.
  • Develop and maintain a vibrant, user-friendly website that serves our member and partner organizations, families, and the broader Yukon community.
  • Oversee and promote the use of Sport Yukon's Digital Display Network among our membership.
  • Establish and sustain a strong social media presence for Sport Yukon.
  • Proactively manage the promotion of Sport Yukon through various media channels.
  • Create and produce diverse communication materials that positively represent Sport Yukon, its member agencies, partners, and programs.
  • Lead marketing and communication efforts for all Sport Yukon initiatives, crafting an annual marketing strategy to guide these efforts.
  • Maintain regular communication with member organizations to promote their events effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional professional writing abilities.
  • Experience in public relations and social media communication.
  • Understanding of website design, with the capability to manage and maintain a dynamic online presence.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge and passion for sports.
  • A collaborative spirit, eager to work with diverse individuals and organizations across Yukon.
  • A desire to thrive in a small, vibrant, and ever-evolving organization.
  • A strong work ethic paired with an energetic and enthusiastic approach to tasks.

Preferred Background:

  • Education or experience in sport promotion and marketing.
  • Educational background and experience in communications, media/public relations, combined with a passion for sport and recreation.
  • Experience in designing and managing websites.
  • Proven track record in creating and executing annual marketing plans and campaigns.
