Your RoleYou will play a crucial role in supporting Young Adults, enhancing their abilities to foster community, cultural, and social connections.
Position: Cultural Connection Worker
Employment Type: Full-Time Permanent - Post Majority Housing
Compensation: $32/hr. - $37/hr.
Your extensive knowledge of Dakelh cultural practices and teachings specific to Young Indigenous Adults is vital. You will be aware of the health and social determinants affecting those who may have been in care and are receiving Post Majority Services. This position offers support to the Post Majority Team and provides cultural assistance to young adults participating in the program by facilitating cultural connections and opportunities. The Cultural Connection Worker operates within a team environment and is expected to deliver tailored support to Young Adults residing in our supportive housing program. Specifically, this role provides cultural guidance and fosters cultural and community connections. This program is designed to address the individual needs of each Young Adult who seeks support in their cultural journey. It is aimed at Dakelh Young Adults aged 19 to 26 years. This is a full-time position.
Qualifications:
- Combination of education and training with relevant experience in the youth care sector;
- Willingness and capability to assist Young Adults in identifying, developing, and strengthening their cultural identity and personal life plans;
- Familiarity with Dakelh language and culture, community services, resources, and systems;
- Experience working with Indigenous groups/communities in a cultural context;
- Certifications in First Aid, Class 4 Driver's License, Crisis Prevention Intervention, Suicide Intervention, and Food Safe are required, but we will consider applicants willing to obtain these after hiring;
- Ability to pass a successful criminal record check.
