Position Overview: The Relief Night Counselor role is vital in our Youth Justice Residence, which provides residential services for young males in custody. This community-based program aims to address the factors contributing to youth involvement in crime and supports their successful reintegration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client supervision and support, including ongoing life skills training.
- Crisis management and administrative duties.
- Community outreach and supervision of recreational outings.
- Health and safety compliance to ensure a secure environment for residents and staff.
Qualifications: Candidates should possess a post-secondary diploma or degree in Social Services, with at least one year of relevant experience in youth services, particularly with individuals in the criminal justice system. Strong knowledge of computer applications is essential.
Skills Required: Proficiency in counseling, group facilitation, communication, and conflict resolution is crucial. Candidates should also demonstrate assessment and program planning skills to enhance service delivery.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are necessary, with the ability to adjust messaging based on the audience's needs.
Additional Requirements: A valid driver's license is required, with a commitment to achieving full licensing within two years. Knowledge of the criminal justice system and social service agencies is an asset.
