Job Title: Overnight Support Worker

WoodGreen is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Overnight Support Worker to join our team. As a key member of our supportive housing program, you will provide essential services to our residents, ensuring their safety and well-being during nighttime hours.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide reception services to staff and residents, ensuring a welcoming and secure environment.
  • Monitor activities in common areas and the building perimeter, responding promptly to any issues or concerns.
  • Implement crisis response strategies, including de-escalation and support, when necessary.
  • Complete hourly rounds on participant floors, checking on residents' needs and providing assistance as required.
  • Offer after-hours supportive counseling to residents, providing a listening ear and guidance when needed.
  • Redirect visitors and respond to issues appropriately, maintaining a safe and respectful environment.
  • Perform lock-up and alarm duties according to established procedures.
  • Respond to the 24-hour resident personal alarm system, providing timely support and assistance.
  • Understand and operate the emergency response system, contacting the 24-hour response team as necessary.
  • Carry out first aid responses, providing immediate care when needed.
  • Collaborate with on-site Personal Support Workers to address resident and building issues, ensuring a cohesive and supportive team approach.
  • Complete a detailed participant activity log and shift exchange, reporting incidents, occurrences, health and safety risks, and resident community status.
  • Understand and respond to risk management procedures, addressing emergency situations and building operations issues professionally and appropriately.
Requirements:
  • 2-year diploma in social services or certification in security.
  • 3+ years of experience working with older adults and/or seniors with mental health, addictions issues, and street involvement.
