About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dining Captain to join our team at Scarborough Retirement Residence. As a Dining Captain, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional service to our residents and guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the dining room staff and take charge of a section or pick up tables as needed.
  • Assist with before and after dinner beverages in the Lobby Pub and assist with serving special guest tables or catered events.
  • Under the direction of the Dining Services Supervisor and Executive Chef, assist with training new dining attendants.
  • Maintain the dining room, Magnolia Cafe, Fred's Bar, Private Dining Room, and family Lounge to ensure they are presentable and meet health department standards.
  • Practice and maintain established standards for cleanliness and sanitation throughout all aspects of service.
  • Bring forth any concerns to the Dining Services Supervisor about resident satisfaction in the dining room.
  • Promote and track a la carte and wine service sales in accordance with prescribed procedures.
  • Comply with all provincial regulations, established food and beverage department policies and procedures, and RHRA standards to ensure the department is tour-ready.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Hospitality and restaurant experience.
  • At least 3+ years of experience as a dining attendant.
  • Valid Smart Serve and Safe Food Handling certificates.
  • Excellent command of verbal and written English language skills.
  • Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team.
  • Experience working with seniors and knowledge of the aging process an asset.
  • Proven customer service skills.
