Job Overview

Halton Healthcare is dedicated to providing exceptional care in our Alternative Level of Care Unit at Milton District Hospital, which operates 35 Regional Beds.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse assigned to the 2 North Regional Unit, your primary responsibility will be to implement the nursing process in the care of patients across various clinical settings. You will be accountable for all aspects of the practical nursing process while delivering direct patient care. This includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care based on specific patient needs.

You will take charge of coordinating care that emphasizes patient transitions throughout the continuum of care, as well as providing education to patients and their families. Your role will also involve administering medications and procedures in accordance with established policies and guidelines. Additionally, you will document observations, assessments, and any changes in the patient's condition, collaborating with healthcare team members to ensure positive patient outcomes while delivering comprehensive practical nursing care.

Required Qualifications

  • Active registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current BCLS Certification at the time of hire
  • Recent experience in practical nursing within acute medicine is an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer usage
  • Compassionate approach towards patients, families, and colleagues
  • Physical capability to perform tasks involving heavy lifting and intensive physical effort
  • Strong physical assessment skills (preference given to those who have completed a physical assessment course)
  • Excellent critical thinking abilities, with the capacity to prioritize and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team setting
  • Commitment to ongoing education and professional development
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record

Additional Information

Work Schedule: Rotating shifts including 12 and 8-hour shifts, with hours ranging from early morning to late evening (subject to operational needs)

Compensation: Competitive hourly wage
