Job Summary
The University Health Network is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Technician I to join our team in the Molecular and Cellular Biology department. As a Research Technician I, you will be responsible for performing experiments, managing our mouse colony, and maintaining detailed records of experimental data.
Key Responsibilities
- Genotype and manage our mouse colony
- Perform molecular biology assays, including PCR, RT-PCR, DNA cloning, and mutagenesis
- Perform Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence
- Cell culture and transduction with shRNA and Crispr gRNA lentiviruses
- Maintain detailed records of all experimental data
- General lab management
Requirements
- At minimum, completion of a BSc degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, or related discipline
- At minimum, six (6) months of demonstrated research experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent organization, and ability to learn quickly
- Ability to work under pressure with attention to detail and perform multiple concurrent tasks
- Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
- Ability to perform duties professionally and courteously and produce high-quality results while meeting deadlines
- Ability to understand and comply with regulatory issues involving animal subjects
