Job Title: Research Technician I

Job Summary:

The University Health Network is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Technician I to join our team in the Molecular and Cellular Biology department. As a Research Technician I, you will be responsible for performing experiments, maintaining detailed records, and contributing to the development of new cancer therapies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Genotype and manage our mouse colony.
  • Perform molecular biology assays, including PCR, RT-PCR, DNA cloning, and mutagenesis.
  • Conduct Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence.
  • Cell culture and transduction with shRNA and Crispr gRNA lentiviruses.
  • Maintain detailed records of all experimental data.
  • General lab management.

Requirements:

  • At minimum, a BSc degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
  • At minimum, six (6) months of demonstrated research experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent organization, and ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to work under pressure with attention to detail and perform multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Can work well both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to perform duties professionally and courteously and produce high-quality results while meeting deadlines by UHN standards.
  • Ability to understand and comply with regulatory issues involving animal subjects.
  • Highly self-motivated.
