This role is classified at the L08 level, offering an hourly compensation range of $37.25 to $47.14.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Medical Imaging Manager, the successful candidate will deliver both clinical and technical assistance to Physicians, with remote support from a Radiologist. Key responsibilities include:

  • Executing routine, emergency, and specialized radiological procedures, including General Radiography, Fluoroscopy, and Computed Tomography.
  • Performing venipuncture and administering contrast media injections as necessary.
  • Setting up, operating, and troubleshooting both portable and stationary imaging devices.
  • Producing and transmitting digital images to the Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) for interpretation by Radiologists and Physicians.
  • Providing emergency callback services as required.
  • Supporting ongoing quality assurance initiatives and conducting preventative maintenance testing on imaging equipment.
  • Training and evaluating fellow Medical Radiological Technologists.
  • Completing administrative and clerical tasks as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting CT and X-ray equipment.
  • Expertise in producing CT and X-ray images, including knowledge of techniques and protocols.
  • Understanding of sterile techniques and infection control practices.
  • Competence in venipuncture and contrast media administration, including awareness of contraindications and potential reactions.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology, as well as cross-sectional anatomy.
  • Familiarity with radiation physics and relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Experience with computerized Hospital and Radiology Information Systems.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to changes in patient conditions.
  • Innovative thinking to adjust equipment and modify procedures as necessary.
  • Skills in post-processing and quality assurance of radiological images.
  • Professional demeanor in handling various situations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in all tasks.
  • Reliability and self-motivation, with the ability to work independently.
Qualifications

Candidates should have:

  • Certification from an accredited Medical Radiation Technology program.
  • Current registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) as a Radiological Technologist (MRT(R)).
  • Current certification in CPR.
  • Experience in operating and maintaining imaging equipment.
  • Additional qualifications such as a CT Imaging Certificate (CTIC) or enrollment in a program with a completion deadline within two years of hire, and certification in Venipuncture for Contrast Media Injections or completion within sixty days of hire, will be considered assets.
  • A Bachelor of Radiation Science or a Bachelor of Technology degree in Medical Imaging is also advantageous.
