Job Overview

This is a Term Full-Time role.

The successful candidate will be engaged at the L08 level, with a competitive hourly compensation structure.

Reporting to the Medical Imaging Manager, the Radiologic Technologist Specialist will deliver both clinical and technical assistance to medical professionals, including remote collaboration with a Radiologist. The role involves conducting routine, urgent, and specialized radiological assessments, including fluoroscopy procedures, under the supervision of a Radiologist or Physician.

Responsibilities include:

  • Setting up, operating, and troubleshooting both stationary and mobile imaging apparatus;
  • Generating and transmitting digital images to the Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) for interpretation by Radiologists or Physicians;
  • Providing emergency callback services;
  • Supporting ongoing quality assurance initiatives and preventative maintenance of imaging equipment;
  • Performing administrative and clerical tasks as required.
Required Knowledge and Skills

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Proficiency in radiological techniques and procedures;
  • Familiarity with CT imaging;
  • Understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and pathology;
  • Knowledge of radiation physics;
  • Experience with digital imaging technology, including operation and troubleshooting;
  • Awareness of Radiation, Health and Safety Regulations;
  • Competence in sterile techniques and infection control measures;
  • Ability to recognize and respond to changes in patient conditions;
  • Innovative mindset to adjust equipment and procedures as necessary;
  • Professional demeanor in handling various situations;
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster effective relationships with colleagues, patients, and families;
  • Organizational skills to manage workload and resolve issues efficiently;
  • Commitment to staying updated with technological advancements;
  • Capability to train and mentor other healthcare professionals;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness;
  • Reliability and self-motivation to work independently.

The successful applicant will have completed an accredited program in Medical Radiation Technology, hold current registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) as a Radiological Technologist (MRT(R)), and possess current CPR certification. Familiarity with computerized Hospital and Radiology Information systems, as well as experience with Computed and Digital Radiography systems, will be considered advantageous. A degree in Radiation Science or Medical Imaging Technology is also a valuable asset.
