Job Title: Executive Sous Chef

We are seeking an experienced Executive Sous Chef to join our team at AVIV Immigrant Kitchen Restaurant. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and service.

Job Summary:
  • Lead a team of cooks and kitchen staff to prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events and regular service.
  • Develop and implement new recipes, menus, and cooking techniques to enhance the dining experience.
  • Train and mentor staff in preparation, cooking, and presentation of food.
  • Ensure food safety and quality standards are met at all times.
  • Collaborate with the head chef and kitchen staff to plan menus, manage inventory, and control food costs.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate records of food costs, consumption, and inventory.
  • Develop and implement new cooking techniques and equipment training for kitchen staff.
  • Create new recipes and menus to enhance the dining experience.
  • Train and mentor staff in preparation, cooking, and presentation of food.
  • Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events and regular service.
Requirements:
  • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience as a sous chef or equivalent.
  • College/CEGEP diploma in culinary arts or equivalent.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and handle heavy loads.
