The RoleWe are seeking a Part-Time Medical Receptionist to join our team at our busy clinic in Markham. As a key member of our reception team, you will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing a positive service experience and ensuring a smooth clinic flow.
The ideal candidate will have 1 year of medical office experience, with a strong understanding of medical terminology and proficiency in technology, including MS Office and EMR systems.
You will be responsible for scheduling and confirming patient appointments, managing patient check-ins and departures, and maintaining accurate patient records.
As a team player, you will collaborate with internal teams to provide and gather information, enabling patient requirements to be dealt with efficiently.
Key Accountabilities- Provide a positive service experience to patients and visitors
- Meet and achieve KPI and performance goals
- Optimize clinic capacity
- Manage patient check-ins, departures, enquiries, and phone calls
- Accurately register patients by obtaining complete demographics, insurance information, and consent
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments and follow-ups
- Respond to patient inquiries in a courteous and empathetic manner
- Maintain attention to detail for all medical records
- Follow best practices in confidentiality and privacy of medical information
- Maintain a clean and organized reception area
- 1 year medical office experience
- Cardiology practice and clinic experience is an asset
- Education/diploma in medical office administration
- Demonstrated high-quality, compassionate, customer-centered experience
- Proven ability to work proficiently and independently in a busy, fast-paced environment
- Ability to establish priorities and achieve objectives with minimal supervision
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Superior telephone etiquette
- Strong understanding of medical terminology
- Proficiency in technology, including MS Office and EMR systems
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to deal with sensitive information with a high degree of privacy and diplomacy

This is a Part-time position for 2-3 days per week, scheduled during the following shifts:
Monday: 2:00 pm-10:00 pm
Wednesday: 2:00 pm-10:00 pm
Thursday: 2:00 pm-10:00 pm
Friday: 2:00 pm-10:00 pm
Sunday: 6:00 am-10:00 pm or 2:00 pm-10:00 pm
For the initial 3 months of the position, full-time hours are preferred for training and leave coverage.
This role reports to the Reception Team Lead.
