ROLE OVERVIEW

The Program Manager is tasked with providing comprehensive leadership for a pediatric care program, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to patients and their families. This role is integral to advancing the strategic objectives of Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) by fostering an environment that prioritizes patient and family engagement in all aspects of care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Patient Care and Safety: Integrate patient and family perspectives into program planning and decision-making; establish and enforce policies and procedures; design and assess collaborative care plans; facilitate educational initiatives for staff; and coordinate care with other services.
  • Operational Management: Formulate and oversee program budgets; evaluate financial discrepancies and capital requests; manage staffing schedules and adjustments; ensure availability of essential medical equipment and supplies; and lead various internal and external teams.
  • Leadership: Advocate for KHSC's strategic goals in interactions with patients, families, and care teams. Cultivate effective relationships with hospital services, promote team communication, and implement a communication strategy to keep the interdisciplinary team informed of relevant issues. Conduct regular safety audits and participate in critical incident reviews.
  • Workplace Environment: Review operational processes to guarantee safety and compliance with patient, worker, and workplace standards. Lead investigations of incidents involving staff and patients, ensuring corrective measures are taken. Maintain thorough documentation of safety training.
  • Staff Development: Encourage professional growth and learning opportunities for all team members. Resolve conflicts through collaborative approaches and support succession planning by fostering professional development. Collaborate with Clinical Educators to create educational plans that meet program needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree in Nursing or a related Allied Health field.
  • Current registration with a recognized health regulatory body.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing, Allied Health, or Health Administration preferred.
  • 5-7 years of relevant healthcare experience required.
  • Extensive experience in a related field preferred.
  • Four years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in Project Management and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Proven ability to facilitate organizational change.
  • Excellent judgment, decision-making, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Commitment to safe working practices.
  • Proficiency in both French and English preferred.
  • Successful completion of a criminal reference check required.
