Ministry of Health is responsible for administering the health care system and providing services to the Ontario public through such programs as health insurance, drug benefits, assistive devices, care for the mentally ill, long-term care, home care services, community and public health, health promotion and disease prevention.
It also regulates hospitals, operates psychiatric hospitals and medical laboratories; and coordinates emergency health services.The Branch
Health Insurance Branch plans, manages, and directs programs and policy related to the Ontario Health Insurance Plan including registration and eligibility for coverage, the Ontario health card, health benefits available outside of Ontario and outside of Canada, including prior approval for treatment outside Canada; and the ministry's subrogation rights under the Plan.

What can I expect to do in this role?In this role, you will:
- Provide research, analytical and business coordination services for management and staff of Health Insurance Branch
- Offer support for program services, program/policy development, implementation and integration of programs
- Assist in the coordination of responses to inquiries from patients and providers
- Assess and respond to applications and claims payment appeals
- Assist in the identification and resolution of policy and program issues
- You have knowledge of research, data and information gathering and analysis methods, techniques and tools
- You are able to conduct in-depth research and gather statistics to support and participate in project teams
- You demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, coordinate and resolve issues
- You demonstrate knowledge of administrative procedures, directives and processes to provide business support services for the branch (e.g. coordinate meetings, record minutes, file maintenance)
- You are proficient with computer software programs such as word processing, database management, financial and administrative applications (e.g. MS Office)
- You have consultation and interpersonal skills to build and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- You can provide information and explanation on programs and services both verbally and in writing
- You have planning, organizational and coordinating skills to effectively prioritize work, develop work plans and keep branch management/staff informed on progress of tasks and projects
