About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to join our NextGen Engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for enhancing and maintaining our current products, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving innovation in the automotive industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect and deliver scalable systems with multiple components and services.
  • Collaborate with software and production engineers to design and implement high-reliability and performance products.
  • Influence company-wide engineering standards for tooling, best practices, and build systems.
  • Develop and implement lifecycle plans for tools to ensure business risk and liability are accounted for.
  • Contribute to and set standards for technical aspects of products, including testing, debugging, performance, observability, alerting, and languages.
  • Implement engineering-wide security standards and ensure security compliance.
  • Modify and develop custom software patterns to solve complex software problems.
  • Lead team discussions to define requirements on new and current products.
  • Respond to and troubleshoot complex problems efficiently and effectively.
  • Act as a mentor and leader for less experienced engineers.
Requirements
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of experience architecting, developing, and delivering software products.
  • 8+ years of experience building and deploying Web applications at scale.
  • Evidence of successfully leading initiatives across multiple teams over multiple years.
  • Experience with transitional architecture or replacing existing systems without downtime.
  • Proven background in API development, system design, and caching.
  • Excellent communication skills between technical and non-technical teammates.
  • Experience with contributing to staffing plans supporting engineering management.
  • Experience in a highly iterative environment with automated testing and continuous integration.
  • Experience maintaining and extending an existing codebase.
  • Experience with build and deployment automation.
