Position Overview:

The Learning Resource Teacher plays a crucial role within the School Based Team, focusing on the creation and management of tailored educational programs. This position is dedicated to implementing specific strategies that aim to enhance each student's learning experience and potential. The teacher will oversee the application of specialized instructional methods while ensuring that individualized programs are aligned with the unique needs of every student.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree along with a Bachelor of Education
  • Completion of Special Education – Part 1
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in an educational setting
  • Proficient in computer usage
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and maintain confidentiality
  • Knowledge of Anishinaabe language and cultural practices, or a willingness to learn

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the School Based Team to execute special education programs, including suitable curriculum and social strategies that promote student achievement
  • Provide necessary support and resources to parents and guardians as needed
  • Work in partnership with external services and agencies (such as Speech and Language therapists, Occupational Therapists, Nurse Navigators, etc.) through a structured referral process
  • Organize and lead School Based Team Meetings
  • Coordinate and conduct academic assessments (such as CAT, Brigance, HELP, etc.)
  • Exhibit adaptability, a positive professional demeanor, and build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Carry out additional related duties as required.
