Underwriting Manager

CNA is seeking an experienced Underwriting Manager to lead our team of underwriters in producing and underwriting business within the branch to achieve branch profit, sales, and growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Coach, lead, and develop a team of underwriting staff to achieve business objectives.
- Assist underwriters with large complex risks and drive regional and branch initiatives to achieve profit, sales, and growth objectives.
- Review and manage the application of underwriting policy and pricing for all risks within an assigned book of business.
- Develop and maintain broker relationships to ensure positive and profitable outcomes.
- Stay current on region/territory issues and regulations, industry activity, and trends.
- Maintain a positive, professional company image within the business community, the insurance industry, and the producers selling our product.
- Manage work and business flow within the department through work assignment and referral procedures.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with proven ability to motivate, coach, and support a team of professionals.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners.
- Customer service focused with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills with ability to conceptualize details and develop action plans for problem solving and decision making.
- Proficiency working with computers, specifically with MS Office Suite.
- University degree desired plus a minimum of 8 years of commercial property and casualty industry experience. Previous experience in a management capacity is preferred.
- CIP designation preferred.
