About This Opportunity

This part-time physician opportunity is available at the North Preston Community Health and Wellness Centre, a multi-disciplinary group serving a sub-rural, marginalized community with a predominantly African Nova Scotian population. The centre has a strong focus on health promotion, disease prevention, and patient advocacy.

Responsibilities
  • Examine patients, take medical histories, order diagnostic tests, and prescribe medications as needed
  • Consult with other medical practitioners and refer patients as necessary
  • Act as a patient advocate and provide health education and promotion
  • Report births, deaths, and contagious diseases to public health authorities
Expected Hours

This is a part-time position, approximately 1 day per week.

Qualifications
  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia
  • Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada
  • Member of the Canadian Medical Protective Association
