Job Description

McLennan Ross is seeking a highly skilled Corporate Commercial Lawyer to join our team in Yellowknife. As a leading firm in General Business Law for Northern Canada and the Arctic, we offer a unique opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients in the municipal, mining, transportation, government, Aboriginal, and not-for-profit sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice on corporate law matters, including incorporations, amalgamations, reorganizations, sales of assets and shares, financing, and winding-up proceedings.
  • Draft shareholder and partnership agreements, as well as purchase and sale agreements for commercial and residential real estate.
  • Advise municipal councils and work with commercial landlords and tenants.
  • Provide security opinions and conduct legal research.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in a corporate/commercial practice or in-house role.
  • Demonstrated corporate/commercial law experience.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, and able to juggle multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Ability to work well independently with confidence under time constraints.
  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in cross-cultural environments.
  • Exceptional ethics and integrity.
  • Professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion at all times.
  • Ability to articulate legal information clearly and practically to clients.
  • Strong legal research skills and computer literacy.
  • Will to travel to and work in communities throughout Northern Canada.
  • Must be a member in good standing of a Canadian law society, and eligible for admission to the Law Society of Northwest Territories and the Law Society of Nunavut.
