Job Summary

McLennan Ross is seeking a highly skilled Corporate Commercial Lawyer to join our team in Yellowknife. As a key member of our Corporate Commercial Law group, you will provide legal advice to a diverse range of clients in the municipal, mining, transportation, government, Aboriginal, and not-for-profit sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice on all aspects of private corporations, joint ventures, and partnerships, including incorporations, amalgamations, reorganizations, sales of assets and shares, financing, and winding-up proceedings.
  • Draft shareholder and partnership agreements, as well as purchase and sale agreements for commercial and residential real estate.
  • Advise municipal councils and work with commercial landlords and tenants.
  • Provide security opinions and conduct legal research.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a corporate/commercial practice or in-house role.
  • Demonstrated corporate/commercial law experience.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, and able to juggle multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong legal research skills and computer literacy.
  • Willingness to travel to and work in communities throughout Northern Canada.
  • Membership in good standing with a Canadian law society and eligibility for admission to the Law Society of Northwest Territories and the Law Society of Nunavut.
