The IT Project Portfolio Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the governance and communication within the IT Project Management Office (PMO) at WSP. This position is crucial for ensuring that project planning, selection, and execution align with the strategic objectives of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

The IT Project Portfolio Manager will:

  • Engage Stakeholders: Collaborate and negotiate effectively with senior business leaders, fostering a win-win environment.
  • Communicate Effectively: Maintain professional communication with the business leadership and One IT leadership teams.
  • Analyze Data: Gather and evaluate portfolio-level data, providing insightful reports as necessary.
  • Assess Performance: Deliver regular qualitative evaluations and recommendations to the business and PMO governance.
  • Own Processes: Manage the qualification, benefit realization, prioritization of initiatives, resource allocation, risk management, and budgeting for IT PMO portfolios.
  • Coach and Mentor: Advocate for and educate stakeholders on the value of Portfolio Management.
  • Adhere to Standards: Consistently follow WSP's Health and Safety protocols.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Master's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Over 5 years of experience in PMO Portfolio Management at an enterprise level.
  • Relevant project management qualifications (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP) are preferred.
  • Experience managing geographically dispersed projects for more than 5 years.
  • Proven track record in line management and individual development within a matrix organization.
  • Strong understanding of portfolio management processes, methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the IT lifecycle, including pipeline, resource, demand, project delivery, and financial aspects.

Desirable:

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential; additional languages are advantageous.
  • Portfolio Accreditation is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with peers and leaders.
  • Experience in strategic operational planning, governance, and portfolio management is highly beneficial.
