Job Overview

Under the guidance of the Retail Manager for the Gift Shop & INS Market, the Assistant Retail Operations Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing daily operational activities and ensuring the smooth functioning of the Gift Shop, Convenience Store, and Lobby Vendor Program, all while enhancing profitability and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the Retail Manager to foster teamwork and cooperation in areas such as purchasing, inventory management, merchandising, and volunteer training. Partner with Volunteers to deliver exceptional customer service, drive engagement, and enhance profitability. Manage the ordering and restocking of inventory for the convenience store and gift shop items, ensuring product availability aligns with the planogram. Utilize Point of Sale and inventory data to establish a replenishment strategy for essential items and categories, working closely with the Manager to procure products and maintain inventory controls. Support daily operational needs, including receiving and tagging merchandise, resetting displays, and coordinating special events as directed by the Manager. Adhere to opening and closing procedures, along with daily reporting requirements. Assist in keeping stockrooms organized, ensuring that store merchandising is effective and products are displayed appropriately to maximize sales. Maintain ongoing communication with the Manager and Volunteers to ensure productivity and sales goals are achieved, while implementing inventory controls and providing product suggestions based on sales data. Contribute to the preparation and execution of annual inventory processes.

Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 education, complemented by a Retail Management Diploma or equivalent experience. A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in retail. Proven experience in retail management, sales, merchandising, POS systems, customer service, and inventory receiving. Proficient in computer applications such as Excel, Word, Point of Sale systems, and Inventory Management software. Goal-oriented with a strong focus on achieving successful outcomes. Excellent time management skills. Experience working with volunteers is highly desirable. Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with effective interpersonal and organizational abilities, especially in a volunteer-based environment. Flexibility in hours and days of work to meet the operational demands of the business.

Employment Type: Temporary Part-time (one-year)

Work Schedule: Monday to Sunday - Various rotating shifts, subject to operational needs.

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate.
