Job Title: BSW or Mental Health Counsellor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate BSW or Mental Health Counsellor to join our team at Brightshores. As a BSW/MHC-B, you will be part of Addiction Treatment Services and assigned to work in the Rapid Access Addiction Medicine Clinic (RAAM). Your primary responsibility will be to provide high-quality assessments, counselling, treatment planning, and referrals to appropriate services within Addiction Treatment Services, Brightshores, and the community to clients referred to or accessing the RAAM Clinic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide assessments, counselling, treatment planning, and referrals to clients referred to or accessing the RAAM Clinic.
  • Work closely with the Addiction Treatment Services teams who provide treatment, rehabilitative, and support services to clients in order to achieve their goals.
  • Collaborate with community agencies to provide comprehensive services to clients.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, families, and community providers to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss client progress and develop treatment plans.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field.
  • Current registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or the College of Psychotherapists.
  • Minimum two years' experience working in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in Addiction Services, Crisis Intervention/emergency psychiatry, and working with community agencies.
  • Familiarity with principles and practice of intensive case management, rehabilitation, and the recovery model for persons with serious mental and addiction illness.
  • Psycho/Social, mental status, and addiction assessment skills.
  • Ability to provide a wide range of counselling, support, advocacy, and education services to family members and others of significance in the patient's life.
  • Ability to communicate positively and professionally with family members, community providers, and physicians.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPR & CPI Certification.
  • GAIN Q3 and/or ADAT certification an asset.
