Job Overview:

The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for maintaining financial records and ensuring accuracy in all financial transactions. This role requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll by calculating and preparing cheques.
  • Assess fixed assets and manage depreciation calculations.
  • Utilize both manual and computerized bookkeeping systems to maintain and balance various accounts.
  • Prepare and maintain general ledgers and financial statements.
  • Post journal entries accurately.
  • Generate various statistical, financial, and accounting reports.
  • Complete tax return preparations.
  • Prepare trial balances for review.
  • Reconcile discrepancies in accounts.

Technical Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Windows, and MS Word.
  • Experience with QuickBooks and Simply Accounting.
  • Familiarity with TaxPrep software.

Work Environment:

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Strong focus on detail and accuracy.
  • Capable of managing repetitive tasks and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to perform under pressure.
