About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Products Manager to join our team at Interior Health Authority. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of our data products strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with business outcomes and financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the entire service management lifecycle, ensuring effective delivery and continuous enhancement of data products and services.
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to develop and document user stories, data product requirements, and data semantic modeling needs.
  • Lead all phases of data product development, including user story creation, sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and cross-team activity coordination.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies such as stand-ups, story refinements, and team retrospectives, ensuring the team understands priorities and next steps.
  • Promote the use of PowerBI data and reporting by developing Standard Operating Procedures, communication, and implementation plans.
  • Establish product roadmaps and release plans that satisfy requirements and achieve business outcomes.
  • Stay updated on business, market, and technology trends to shape product strategy and proactively suggest new solutions.
  • Oversee the deployment of applications and data products through data pipelines.
  • Provides operational leadership to team; triages and assigns workload.
  • Lead initiatives for change management, communication, and quality enhancement for data products and services within Data & Analytics.
  • Collaborate with project managers and oversee project tasks, ensuring the team aligns with project requirements and meets deliverables.
  • Represent IH on provincial and Ministry workgroups related to analytics & reporting activities.
  • Responsible for recruitment, training, performance management, attendance management, and discipline measures for direct reports.
  • Prepares the annual operating and capital budget for the department; monitors activities and ensures expenditures are within approved budgets; and identifies efficiencies that promotes the optimal use of resources.
  • In alignment with IH's Occupational Health & Safety Program, maintain a healthy and safe work environment through complying with and implementing applicable Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, responding to requests from WSBC, identifying hazards and communicating risks, ensuring compliance with employee training, conducting effective incident investigations, and implementing required corrective actions.
Requirements
  • A Bachelors or Master's (preferred) degree in health information science, analytics, business administration, information management or related discipline.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of recent, related leadership and management experience, obtained in a complex environment (preferably healthcare), including responsibility for operations at an enterprise level and experience in customer service.
  • Experience in quality improvement in business processes with demonstrated acumen in change management and experience with project leadership and/or PMP certification is an asset.
  • Experience with the following products and/or services are considered assets: Microsoft products, especially Power BI; Service Management and certification in ITIL; Scrum Methodology and/or certification; Change Management and/or certification in Prosci.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Demonstrated consulting skills, with change management concepts and strategies, including communication, culture change and performance measurement system design.
  • Ability to source cause of a problem and make sound and timely decisions to resolve problems.
  • Results orientation, willingness to commit to a direction and drive operations to completion.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ability to handle complaints, settle disputes and resolve conflicts and negotiate with others.
  • Effectiveness in building trust, respect, and cooperation among teams.
  • Internally and externally recognized subject matter expert that influence the way things are done.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
