Your Role as a Recreation Therapist

As a Recreation Therapist at Interior Health Authority, you will play a vital role in enriching the lives of our residents by implementing engaging and therapeutic recreation programs. Working within a client-centered model and as part of an interdisciplinary team, you will contribute significantly to the overall health and happiness of those in our care.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver established individual and group leisure/recreation therapy programs encompassing a wide range of activities such as arts, socio-cultural events, crafts, sports, music, cooking, gardening, and exercises.
  • Set up and organize furnishings and equipment for programs and special events to create a safe and enjoyable environment for residents.
  • Actively participate with clients during outings, ensuring their comfort and well-being throughout the experience.
  • Provide guidance and instruction related to program activities to residents, encouraging their active participation and enjoyment.
  • Collaborate effectively with nursing staff, supervisors, and therapists to report any changes or issues promptly, maintaining a seamless and supportive care environment.
