Job Summary

The City of Mississauga is seeking a highly skilled Senior Capital Project Manager to join its team. As a key member of the Capital Design and Construction department, you will be responsible for planning and managing construction projects from conceptual design to commissioning and turnover.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and administer design and construction contracts, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Collaborate with clients, authorities, and stakeholders to develop project implementation schedules and budgets.
  • Manage project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Review and approve drawings and specifications, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines and company standards.
  • Provide direction and instruction to consultants and contractors, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to specifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including project coordination, communication, and problem-solving.

Requirements

  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation is preferred.
  • Registered Professional Engineer with the Ontario Association of Professional Engineers, with a mechanical, electrical, or structural degree specializing in mechanical and/or electrical design.
  • LEED and PMP designations are preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in building design and construction, with a proven track record of managing multiple large construction contracts.
  • Experience in mechanical design, including HVAC systems, plumbing, controls, energy management, and decarbonization concepts.
  • Solid background in preparing and administering consulting and construction agreements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledgeable of regulatory requirements, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act, NFPA, ASHRAE, Fire Code, OBC, TSSA, and Electrical Code.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate effectively and work in a team-based environment.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and quality customer service.

Working Conditions

  • Hourly Rate/Salary: $111,337 - $148,451
  • Hours of Work: 35
