About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Solid Waste Planner to join our team at GHD. As a key member of our Canadian Operations, you will play a critical role in shaping our communities' sustainable future.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Policy Research and Development: Conduct in-depth research on waste management policies and regulations to inform our projects and initiatives.
  2. Proposal Writing and Project Management: Lead the development of proposals for new projects and manage project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  3. Approval and Permit Applications: Assist project teams with the preparation and submission of approval and permit applications.
  4. Report Compilation and Drafting: Lead the compilation and drafting of reports and summary documents for project stakeholders.
  5. Public Consultation and Engagement: Coordinate public consultation events and develop public-facing content to engage with stakeholders.
  6. Technical Contribution to Master Plans: Provide technical expertise to develop solid waste master plans and strategies.
Requirements
  • A post-secondary education in environmental planning, environmental policy, waste management planning, environmental science, or a related discipline.
  • 5-7 years of project experience in the waste management industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with people.
  • Fluency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint).
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with Provincial and Federal Policy and Legislation.
  • Experience working with First Nations (specifically in the waste sector) would be an asset.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  • Ability to manage consulting assignments within a collaborative, team environment.
