POSITION TITLE: Laboratory Support I (General)
PRIMARY LOCATION: Stratford
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Regular Part-Time
SHIFT DETAILS: Varied shifts including days, evenings, and nights with coverage throughout the week.
ROLE OVERVIEW: Under the guidance of Charge Technologists, the Laboratory Support I (General) will assist in various functions across the Stratford Laboratory. Key areas of responsibility include Core Lab, Histology, and Microbiology. Responsibilities encompass:
- Phlebotomy and patient registration
- Media inoculation and inventory management of supplies
- Histology slide labeling, distribution, filing, and tissue disposal
REPORTING STRUCTURE: Reports directly to the Manager of the Laboratory.
COMPENSATION: Competitive hourly wage based on experience.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technician
- Completion of an accredited MLA training program and successful passing of the CSMLS or MLPAO MLA examination
EXPERIENCE: Recent relevant experience in a similar laboratory environment is preferred.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledgeable in microbiology procedures
- Proficient in phlebotomy techniques
- Experienced in various specimen collection methods
- Computer literate with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Effective communication skills
