Job Title: Educational Assistant - Special Needs Support

We are seeking a qualified Educational Assistant to support students with special education needs in our elementary and secondary schools. As an Educational Assistant, you will work collaboratively with teachers and other school staff to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist students with special education needs in achieving personal, social, physical, and academic development under the direction of the classroom teacher or other professionals.
  • Support the inclusion of students with diverse learning needs in the classroom.
  • Assist in the delivery of instruction to support students with special education needs achieve their goals and expectations as outlined within their Individual Education Plans (I.E.P.'s).
  • Attend to the hygienic, health, and safety needs of special students, including toileting, diapering, lifting, catheterization, mobility, dressing, suctioning, feeding, positioning, visual schedules, non-verbal, fine and gross motor skills development, behaviour and anger management, communication support, language support, social support, conflict resolution, life skills, sensory needs, emotional supports, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Behavioural Management System, Seizure Disorder and FM System Support, academic support, and keep daily anecdotal and tracking data.
Requirements:
  • Successful completion of the 2-year Educational Assistant - Special Needs Program from a Community College.
  • Willingness and ability to work with teachers with various needs of students in an integrated setting.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, written, and oral skills.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification an asset.
Work Environment:

Must be able to travel to all locations within the Niagara Catholic District School Board jurisdiction.

Work Schedule:

Varies as needed on a casual on-call basis. Must be available Monday to Friday for Elementary and Secondary School hours.
