Unit Overview
The B3 North Neurobehavioral Unit at the Regional Rehabilitation Centre is dedicated to providing care for individuals with acquired brain injuries, often accompanied by psychiatric conditions and challenging behaviors. Our focus is on addressing these behaviors through comprehensive assessment and therapeutic interventions aimed at enhancing life skills, social interactions, and community involvement.
As an integral member of our multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for the assessment, intervention, consultation, education, and prevention for adults facing communication and swallowing challenges due to impairments in language, cognitive-communication skills, articulation, voice, fluency, and/or oropharyngeal dysfunction resulting from acquired brain injuries. This role includes the supervision and mentorship of Rehabilitation Therapists, ensuring effective service delivery through both consultative and direct treatment approaches.
Monday to Friday; daytime hours
- Must be registered with CASLPO or eligible for registration
- A Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology is required
- Current expertise and experience in assessing and treating adults with neurogenic communication and swallowing disorders
- Previous experience in a rehabilitation setting with acquired brain injury patients is preferred
- Familiarity with video-fluoroscopy swallowing studies is an asset
- Skills in augmentative and alternative communication are preferred, or a willingness to develop these skills
- Proven experience working with individuals with acquired brain injuries and complex rehabilitation needs, including cognitive, behavioral, and mental health challenges.
